KATHUA: DD, As the encounter between the security forces and the terrorist has continued for the consecutive second day in one of the toughest terrains in Kathua District – day after the forces have neutralised three foreign terrorists, the reports have claimed that the security forces have sighted the body of fourth police constable, who was missing from yesterday.
“The body of the missing cop has been sighted using the drone by the security forces. However, his body could not be retrieved from the site due to exchange of fire,” the reports stated, while informing the encounter has entered a second day with the security forces launching a major counter-terror operation to neutralise the surviving terrorists.
On March 27, 2025, three brave police personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police have also made supreme sacrifice in a deadly encounter in the forests of Safian village in Panchayat Juthana in Kathua District. Three terrorists were also killed by the security forces in the heavy exchange of fire.
Soon after getting the inputs about the suspicious movement of the terrorists in the forests of Safian, the reports said that the SOG team of Jammu and Kashmir Police rushed to the spot and they came under heavy fire from the terrorists.
As the encounter started, the reports claim that the police men and other security forces were able to neutralise three terrorists at the initial stage of the gunfight.
However, three brave cops were martyred while fighting the Pakistani terrorists, the reports added.
Nearly six to seven cops, including a DySP, also sustained injuries in the encounter. All of them were evacuated from the site, and shifted to the hospital.
Pertinently, the presence of heavily armed terrorists was first reported from Sanyal village along the International Border in Kathua District when a kidnapped couple escaped from the captivity of the Pakistani terrorist and reached their native village and they, accordingly, alerted the security forces about the presence of a group of terrorists.
For four to five days, the security forces continued their search operation in the border villages whereas a high alert was sounded across the Jammu plain/ border villages to track down the terrorists.
In the meantime, the input about the suspicious movement was shared with the police, and other security agencies that led to the tracking of the terrorists.
However, it is not sure if the trapped terrorists in Safian village of Kathua are the members of the same group of terrorists, or some other group is there.
Till the filing of this story, the security forces are preparing for the final assault.DD
