Handwara, DD, To protect the youth from the harmful effects of drugs, Handwara Police today carried out wild bhung (cannabis) destruction drives at Village Lokipora Kralgund and Talri Handwara.
The drives were held under the supervision of senior officers. Members of the Masjid Committee, civil society, Numberdar, Chowkidar, and other locals also joined the police. Together, they identified and destroyed large patches of wild bhung growing in the open fields.
Police officers on the spot said that drugs not only spoil lives but also damage the peace of society. They praised the local people for their support and stressed that community help is very important to stop drugs.
Community elders and civil society members assured full cooperation in future and promised to spread awareness among youth about the dangers of drug abuse.
Handwara Police again appealed to the public to stay alert and share any information about illegal cultivation or sale of drugs. Police said they will continue to follow a strict zero-tolerance policy to make society drug-free and healthy.DD
