“92 Year Old Bishan Dass cast Vote appeals to All to Exercise their Franchise “

Udhampur,TDD: The Election Commission of India has initiated Home voting for the third phase of elections in Udhampur district, which is scheduled for October 1, 2024 Four assembly constituencies of Udhampur i.e Udhampur East, Udhampur West, Ramnagar, and Chenani – will go to polls on this date.
A special two-day home voting process began today, allowing elderly and differently-abled voters to cast their ballots from the comfort of their homes. This initiative by the Election Commission of India aims to ensure maximum participation in the democratic process.
As the early voting commenced, polling parties visited the homes of 115 eligible voters who had registered for this facility today. One such voter was 92 Year-old Bishan Das Gupta, a retired teacher from Sallain Talab, Udhampur. Gupta expressed his joy at being able to exercise his right to vote despite his age and physical limitations.
Gupta said, "I am 92 years old and extremely happy to have cast my vote today. As I am unable to go to the polling station, this facility provided by the Election Commission of India and Implemented by District Election officer Udhampur allowed me to vote from my home. I am very grateful for this arrangement. Without it, I might not have been able to participate in the electoral process."
Gupta further added, "I am delighted and want to say that if I can exercise my voting right, I urge everyone, especially the youth and first-time voters, to come out in large numbers on October 1, 2024, when Udhampur district goes to polls. Please make sure to cast your vote and be a part of this democratic process."
This initiative has been widely appreciated, as it ensures that no eligible voter is left behind due to age or physical constraints. The third phase of voting for the Udhampur district is set to take place on October 1, 2024, and officials are expecting a high turnout across all four constituencies.TDD
