Katra/Reasi,TDD:- Polling for the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections began on Wednesday amid tight security arrangements.

The voting process, which commenced at 7 am, will conclude at 6 pm, as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

At the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Katra assembly constituency, a large number of voters, including first-time voters, were seen standing in queues at polling stations to cast their ballots and participate in the democratic process.

This election holds special significance as it is the first one after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A from Jammu and Kashmir, which led to the bifurcation of the erstwhile state into the union territories of Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh.

The Reasi district has a total of 2,37,205 registered voters, including 1,24,359 males, 1,12,843 females, and 3 transgender individuals, across its three assembly constituencies. The ECI has established 436 polling stations throughout the district.

In the Reasi district, there are 6 candidates contesting in the Gulabgarh (ST) Assembly Constituency, 7 candidates in the Reasi Assembly Constituency, and 7 candidates in the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Assembly Constituency. TDD
