Srinagar:DD, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) convened a meeting of its legislators ahead of the upcoming Assembly session to discuss key issues and strategize on legislative business on Wednesday.

Speaking to media persons after attending meet, JKNC MLA Salman Sagar said, “In the coming session, in all the sittings, the issues will be raised by the legislatures, some bills would come for discussions, resolutions would be there, RS elections would be talked, our allies will be there. It’s a formal meeting which happens ahead of the Assembly session, it was called by Farooq Abdullah, all the important issues will be discussed on the floor.”

When asked about PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti extending support to JKNC on the Rajya Sabha elections, Sagar said, “I feel that the CM responded to that. Mehbooba ji is a senior leader, she knows the Assembly proceedings. Assembly proceedings are not decided with electoral battles. Rather the Speaker follows rules, procedures, protocols, they will take up. The CM is clear about passing the bills of public interest. Hopefully there would be such bills. I feel secular forces should be strengthened.”

NC leader Mla Abdul Majeed Bhat Larmi added, “Congress is a part of the coalition…A meeting is convened before the commencement of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly session.”

The meeting is seen as a preparatory step to ensure smooth conduct of business in the forthcoming Assembly session. (KNC)
