Police lodges FIR after mob attacks cavalcade of MLA Gurez

Some people have received minor injuries: SSP Bandipora

Srinagar, Oct 30 (TDD):Jammu and Kashmir police today file a case after a mob attacked the cavalcade of National Conference Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Nazir Ahmad Khan Gurezi last evening.

The incident happened after unknown people attacked the cavalcade of Gurezi with stones when the NC MLA was touring Gujran Tulail area.

He said when he was returning from Chakwali, where he had gone to thank locals for their support in the recent elections, unidentified people blocked the convoy’s path after which a verbal brawl started.

“The mob turned violent and started hurling stones at the vehicles that were part of my cavalcade,” the NC MLA said.

Harmeet Singh Mehta, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora said that a case has been registered and investigations have started.

“Minor injuries were reported to few people who were provided first aid at the hospital,” he said. ” Two injured were referred to Srinagar for advanced treatment. “

Police sources said that a case under FIR (No. 7/24) at Police Station Tulail has been registered and the hunt for those involved has started-(TDD)
