Jammu, (DD) The Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched a preliminary inquiry after a disturbing video went viral on social media showing a man being paraded shirtless and made to sit on the bonnet of a police vehicle in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bakshi Nagar, Jammu.

According to an official order issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jammu — a copy of which is with JKNS — the conduct of the involved police personnel has been described as “unprofessional and unbecoming of members of a disciplined organization.”

The SSP has assigned SDPO City North, Jammu, to carry out a time-bound preliminary inquiry and submit a detailed report within a week. The statement further said that departmental action will be initiated based on the findings of the probe.

“The Jammu and Kashmir Police remain committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability,” the statement added, emphasizing that any deviation from protocol will be dealt with strictly.

The video, which has triggered widespread outrage, shows the man being humiliated in public, prompting calls for immediate disciplinary action and respect for human rights and due process(DD)
