Kulgam, (DD): A second terrorist has been killed in the ongoing encounter in the Akhal forest area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, taking the toll to two, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The gunfight erupted on Friday evening after a joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area following specific intelligence inputs about militant presence.
According to officials, one terrorist was eliminated on Friday, and another was killed today during the continued operation.
The identity and affiliation of the slain militants are yet to be confirmed. The area remains under strict cordon as security forces continue their search to ensure no other militants are hiding in the vicinity.
