Rajouri: An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered and disposed of in a forest area of Khablan in the Thanamandi subdivision of Rajouri district following a cordon and search operation (CASO).
The joint search operation was launched based on intelligence inputs about suspected movement in the area. During the operation, the search team recovered an IED. A bomb disposal squad was immediately rushed to the spot, and the device was defused after a technical examination.
Given its proximity to the Line of Control, security arrangements have already been stepped up in the Rajouri and Poonch districts, with constant vigilance being maintained over anti-national elements. Similar measures have also been taken in the Jammu plains and the higher reaches of Udhampur district.
On February 4, 2026, the security forces neutralised terrorists hiding in a natural cave in Udhampur’s Basantgarh area, while another terrorist was killed in the forests of Kishtwar district following weeks of chase and search operations.DD
