Jammu, DD, The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), in collaboration with B.Ed. College, Canal Road, Jammu, organized a massive donation drive at the RRR Centre in Ward No. 59, Paloura, Jammu. Students, teachers, and citizens enthusiastically contributed used clothes, toys, books, shoes and other essential items, exhibiting the spirit of community service and sustainability.

Dr. Devansh Yadav, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, graced the event and also donated used clothes & household items. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the dual purpose of the initiative – ‘The Kindness Exchange’. “It is not just about charity, it’s about environmental stewardship and collective responsibility”, he said. The Commissioner also said that every household has items that can find a new life with those in need. By donating these, we can prevent them from clogging drains, polluting water bodies or ending up in landfills.

Dr. Yadav underscored the initiative as a collective endeavour, urging citizens from all walks of life to donate unused items including clothes, toys, shoes and books at the RRR Centres.
“Through ‘The Kindness Exchange, JMC aims not only to reduce waste but also to ensure these resources reach those in need, giving them a second life,” he asserted. He urged citizens, especially youth, students and NGOs to donate unused items at their nearest centres and transform waste into welfare. He requested citizens to contact the ‘My Jammu’ toll-free helpline at 18001807207 for any assistance.

Shri Ashok Singh Manhas, former Corporator, Paloura (Ward No. 59), praised ‘The Kindness Exchange’ initiative of JMC. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Manhas said that these centres offer a simple and accessible platform for donating old and used items, ensuring they are reused by those in need. Emphasizing collective responsibility, he urged people to spread awareness about the initiative and encourage donations instead of discarding such items into drains, water bodies or open spaces.
